Dr. Jaymie Henry Brief
Jaymie Ang Henry, MD, MPH, is a doctor, writer, public health specialist, and an advocate for Surgery as part of primary health care systems in developing countries. She is a Founder and Executive Board member of the International Collaboration for Essential Surgery (ICES), dedicated to promoting essential surgery in developing countries. Jaymie is a lecturer and content creator for the UC Berkeley Global Health Core Course. She is the executive producer, writer, and director of the film dedicated to Global Surgery issues, “The Right to Heal.”
She obtained her medical degree from the University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Medicine and Surgery in Manila, Philippines, and a master’s in Public Health (MPH) at the University of California, Berkeley School of Public Health. Jaymie started her training in General Surgery at the Mount Sinai Hospital (NY), was an international surgical fellow at Surgeons OverSeas (SOS), ambassador at the UCSF Institute for Global Orthopedics and Traumatology (IGOT), and researcher at the World Health Organization Violence and Injury Prevention and Disability (VIP).
